At Nomadic Drones we build autonomous drones that land and recharge on high-voltage power lines.
Our drones sit on live 380kV lines today, harvest energy from the grid, and deliver continuous monitoring data to grid operators across Europe and America.
In this role you write the software that runs onboard our drones.
You will be involved in every part of the system and lifecycle, from conception to deployment.
We need someone who's excited.
Tasks You develop and maintain software for flight behavior, data collection, telemetry, and autonomy.
You work on communication between drones and cloud infrastructure.
You debug issues on deployed hardware, often remotely and with limited information.
You coordinate firmware updates and fleet rollouts for drone operations, and you develop sensor firmware so our customers get accurate and reliable data.
And whatever is necessary: if something needs to happen, you do it.
In your first three months you will build reliable embedded firmware, co-design the software stack for remotely operating the drone, and spend time in the field testing the drone end-to-end.
Experience with robotics or embedded projects.
Comfortable with Linux and working close to the hardware.
Bonus points for experience with ROS2, MQTT, Mender, and deep learning.
You don't need to tick all of these.
If you're a fast learner and excited about your work, we want to talk to you.
